Suspected DUI crash brings down power lines

According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol, a July 29 accident involving a suspected drunk driver forced officials to close down Highway 81 just south of Easley. Reportedly, the 12:30 a.m. accident brought down nearby power lines.

2 men accused of smoking heroin at Chuck E. Cheese

South Carolina residents may be interested to learn about drug charges that were filed against two men for allegedly smoking heroin in a Chuck E. Cheese restaurant. A customer at a Chuck E. Cheese in Costa Mesa, California reported witnessing the 27 and 28-year-old men getting high in a bathroom stall on July 8. According to police, the two men were arrested on drug charges after they were observed in the process of smoking heroin.

South Carolina DUI incident involves business CEO

The leader of a failed organic farming business has been held on DUI charges after authorities reportedly discovered an open alcohol container in his vehicle on July 11 during a stop on Highway 18. Details related to the DUI incident are limited, but the man is expected to be held until extradition to Tennessee can occur. At the time of the DUI detention, it was discovered that a Tennessee warrant was active in connection with the man's reported failure to attend a court session related to a forgery case in that state.

Police find heroin on man with 12 prior drug offenses

On June 27, a 57-year-old man was taken into custody in Rock Hill for drug possession. Despite his record of 12 prior drug-related charges, an officer with the York County Multijurisdictional Drug Enforcement Unit was unfamiliar with the man. According to reports, all of the man's prior drug convictions stemmed from incidents in New Jersey and New York. Authorities say that they plan to interview the accused man in the hopes of learning about some of his possible connections in the area.

5 individuals facing drug and weapons charges

South Carolina law enforcement agents were among the multiple organizations that investigated and detained five people on drugs and weapons charges in April and May of this year. All five defendants could face prison time upwards of ten years to life.
