Felony charges in fatal South Carolina accident

A 32-year-old South Carolina man is facing a number of serious charges related to driving under the influence following a fatal accident. Sources indicate that the accident occurred shortly after 8 p.m. on Dec. 22. According to reports, the accused was driving a 1998 Ford Explorer southbound on Red Bluff Road. South Carolina Highway Patrol troopers say that he crossed the center line and collided with a northbound Jeep Cherokee.

Marijuana sales in South Carolina lead to seven-year sentence

A Midlands-area business owner whom police took into custody in 2013 on drug-related charges recently received sentencing. Having entered a guilty plea in accordance with a plea deal, the man avoided some of the charges filed after law enforcement officers allegedly discovered more than 10 pounds of marijuana and other controlled substances inside his residence.

Police take 6 into custody after South Carolina drug bust

Authorities say that six people were taken into custody after recovering marijuana and crack cocaine during a drug bust in Rembert on Dec. 5. Three male and two female suspects were charged with possession with intent to distribute marijuana, possession of crack cocaine and manufacturing crack cocaine, among other charges. A 31-year-old male was facing a charge of possession of marijuana.

Man charged with DUI after allegedly hitting mailboxes

A South Carolina man faces numerous charges after an alleged drunk driving incident on Nov. 30. According to authorities, a police officer noticed the 43-year-old accused man crossing the center line of a road in Kershaw County. Police say they then tried to stop the man, but he allegedly refused to comply with their request, initiating a chase through several residential areas.

Former CCU quarterback facing DUI charge

A South Carolina football player was accused of driving drunk after police allegedly found him sleeping in a drive-thru on Nov. 23. Police say Tyler Thigpen, a former quarterback for the Coastal Carolina University Chanticleers, was found asleep behind the wheel of his vehicle while parked in the drive-thru of a Wendy's restaurant in Myrtle Beach. He was ultimately charged for DUI.
