South Carolina man faces DUI, various other charges

Bluffton police say that a local man on a moped was driving unsafely on Buckwalter Parkway. The man was said to be swerving and traveling across the lanes and falling off his moped. After pulling over the man, he was detained.

2 men arrested on drug charges

South Carolina residents may have heard news about two men in North Carolina who were arrested as a result of drug raids executed on Feb. 11. The two residences targeted by the police were located in China Grove and Charlotte, N.C. Federal and local law enforcement agencies were monitoring three UPS packages being sent from California to two men in China Grove. Law enforcement claimed to have witnessed the two men pick up the packages in China Grove and deliver them to an address on West Hillside Drive.

South Carolina lt. governor's chief of staff charged with DUI

The chief of staff for South Carolina's lieutenant governor was arrested and charged with DUI on Jan. 31. Columbia Police said they pulled over the staffer around 12:41 a.m.

South Carolina identity theft defense

Identity theft and identity fraud have had their definitions expanded since 1998, when the U.S. Department of Justice appended fraudulent Internet activity to the list of bogus checks, passports and identification issued in another person's name or used to defraud another person. The Department of Justice notes that nearly any identifying information, such as a phone number or a person's mother's maiden name, may be used to commit identity theft or fraud.
