South Carolina man accused of kidnap and rape at knife point

When a South Carolina resident is accused of committing an offense of a sexual nature, the consequences can be devastating even before the person has had the opportunity to defend against the allegations in a court. Even if the defendant is acquitted or the charges are dropped, the stigma of a sex offender may remain. A Rock Hill man is facing several charges after he was accused of kidnap and rape.

Rock Hill police say a call was received by 911, reporting a screaming woman being forced into a car by a man. Apparently, the incident occurred on a recent Tuesday morning. Witnesses reported seeing the man assaulting the woman. The man is accused of threatening the woman with a knife as he kidnapped and raped her.

A police spokesperson said the woman suffered no injuries, and she did not need medical treatment. The charges filed against the man include kidnapping and first-degree criminal sexual conduct. He was booked into the Rock Hill jail, and he is being held without bond.

Clearly, the rape charges filed against this South Carolina man are serious and come with the prospect of prison time and registration as a sex offender. Having legal counsel present during questioning may avoid situations in which the accused individual says or does something that may be harmful to the case. With the strategy devised by an experienced criminal defense attorney, a focused defense will seek to protect the legal interests of the defendant while fighting for the best possible result.
