3 nabbed for selling drugs to South Carolina students

default-post1

On April 3, York County authorities arrested three people on suspicion of dealing drugs to local college students following an undercover investigation. A fourth person was charged with possession.

According to the York County Sheriff’s Office, undercover officers made three purchases of illegal drugs at a residence in Rock Hill in late March. The officers also allegedly observed several other individuals, including students from nearby Winthrop University, enter the house to purchase drugs. Authorities said a search of the house turned up heroin, high-grade marijuana, bath salts and mushrooms, also known as psilocybin.

A 22-year-old male resident of the home was charged with distribution of drugs, possession of marijuana, possession of bath salts and other related offenses. A 20-year-old female resident of the home was charged with 14 offenses, including possession of bath salts and possession of marijuana. Both defendants were jailed. The male’s bond was set at $54,000, and the female’s bond was set at $46,000. A 22-year-old Fort Mill woman was also charged with second-offense possession of cocaine. She was jailed, and her bond was set at $3,000. A fourth person, who also lives in Rock Hill, was given a ticket for marijuana possession.

Anyone arrested on drug charges may find it advisable to choose to invoke their rights under the Constitution to remain silent and to retain counsel. Having a criminal defense attorney present during police questioning could prevent a defendant from making any self-incriminating statements that could later be introduced during court proceedings. Legal counsel could also review the evidence in the case for any inaccuracies or inconsistencies that could be used to build a strong defense.
