Assistant principal charged with criminal sexual conduct

A student at a South Carolina high school recently reported alleged inappropriate manipulation by the assistant principal. The 30-year-old administrator is now facing several charges related to criminal sexual conduct with a minor. The girl contends she went to the teacher for protection from bullies and ended up having a sexual relationship with him.

According to the complaint, the first encounter took place when the student was 15 years old. She alleges the teacher offered his protection in exchange for sex. She agreed, and she claims that he continued to manipulate her into continuing the relationship. Allegations included his threats to have the girl and her sibling removed from their mother’s care and also promises to make sure she got good grades in exchange for sex.

Reportedly, authorities believe that the accused man’s sexual manipulation of students did not end with the plaintiff, but that more students were victims of his alleged sex crimes. While this type of conduct between school personnel and students is unacceptable, the accused man, in this case, has not had the opportunity to defend himself in a court of law. Only if and when the prosecutors have proved his guilt beyond a reasonable doubt can he be convicted.
