South Carolina bust sees 5 women charged with sex crimes

default-post1

Being charged with a sex crime is a serious thing that can follow you for life, even if you are not actually found guilty or sentenced. In fact, just the accusation of committing a sex crime can cause damage to your reputation and haunt future educational and occupational prospects. The charge can be filed for things such as falling asleep nude in your own bedroom while a minor is in the home or for allegedly slapping someone’s backside. It is common for trumped up charges to appear when it comes to crimes of this nature.

Recently five women were rounded up and arrested as part of a Myrtle Beach prostitution bust. The women range in age from 18 to 44. Each woman was arrested at a different location around the city. There is no word on any alleged ‘johns’ being arrested as part of the operation.

Prostitution is one of many serious sex-related charges. In South Carolina, some sex crime convictions are no parole offenses. This means you will not even be eligible for a parole hearing until you have served at least 85 percent of your sentence. Even when you are released, you may be subject to lifetime registration as a sex offender.

When individuals are questioned or charged with a sex crime, they have the right to have legal counsel present. This can help ensure their rights are protected, especially when in a stressed state from being accused or feeling interrogated. South Carolina criminal defense attorneys may be able to aid an accused person in getting a thorough investigation conducted. Such an attorney may also be able to get charges dropped or reduced.
