Deputy in South Carolina arrested on suspicion of drunk driving

default-post1

Police officers may often be held to a higher standard than others when it comes to suspicion of criminal activity. When facing accusations for a crime such as driving under the influence of alcohol, officers are often placed on administrative leave while charges are pending. A deputy is apparently experiencing such a situation after he was recently accused of drunk driving in South Carolina.

According to the South Carolina State Highway Patrol, a trooper came upon a vehicle that had veered off the road just after 3 a.m. on a recent Tuesday. The trooper claims that the vehicle had came to a rest after slamming into a tree. The driver, who is apparently a local deputy, allegedly refused to submit to a breath test and was arrested and charged with DUI soon thereafter.

For someone who is accused of impaired driving, allegations alone can be stressful and challenging to overcome. For one who works in law enforcement, a conviction for similar charges could have disastrous consequences on his or her future employment within a related field. Those who are accused of a similar crime often seek to protect important areas of life, but they might be uncertain how to proceed.

When facing drunk driving charges, an individual will likely find it beneficial to seek guidance as soon as possible. By speaking with a defense attorney, a client in South Carolina might be able to obtain some much-needed advice and assistance in navigating the process. An attorney can thoroughly evaluate the situation, inform a client of the potential consequences and outcomes thereof, and provide advice on making informed decisions throughout this stressful and intimidating life event.
