DUI takes the life of a South Carolina student; charges filed

High school is supposed to be a time to live carefree and get an education while making friends and having fun. It is not supposed to be a time when students are left mourning the lost life of a friend and fellow student. Unfortunately, a recent accident in South Carolina did just that, and a man is now facing criminal charges for the DUI accident.

The crash happened just before 8 a.m. on a recent weekday morning as the student was apparently driving to school. He was just a short distance from the school when a man driving another vehicle crashed into him. Reports claim that the man was allegedly driving under the influence at the time of the accident.

Sadly, the 15-year-old boy died at the scene of the crash even though he was wearing his safety restraint belt. The man accused of being at fault for the accident has been charged with a felony count of DUI that resulted in a death, as well as possessing some sort of controlled substance. Reports did not indicate what type of substance the man was carrying.

The man is facing severe charges and is being held on a $115 thousand bond even though the DUI accident is still being investigated. With an unknown outcome ahead of the man, it may be a good idea for him to secure a good defense to help him through the situation. It could prove even further beneficial for the man to receive assistance with looking at all the evidence and determining his rights and responsibilities in South Carolina.
